hey everyone. i did a search for this stuff and read through everything but i still cant figure out what to do. im home on break right now so as promised i stripped the interior of the vette (my dads) to get it ready for the new carpet. what a PITA...it was fun though ;) but anyway, all the old stuff is out and i decided we should put in some kind of soud deadening. the car is fiberglass and there is very little insulation from the factory. now with the new exhaust it is very loud inside, not to mention road noise, so i wanted to seal it up a little better. i heard about ice sheild and stuff and spend all day yesterday running around trying to find it and couldnt. then i realized its probably cause im in the south and we dont get much ice  are there any other cheap alternatives to DynaMat? I dont really want to order something but if i have to i think i'll get some fat mat. sorry this is so disjointed and rambling. oh well, any suggestions?

If u continue your search on this board you should come up with alot of answers and options. There are many cheaper solutions you can go with rather then dynamat besides dynamat is only vibration dampening. You will need a layer of that but for sound deadening you will need acoustic foam to absorb the sound. With an aftermarket exhuast being so close to the floor it will be almost imposible to quiet it down. Partsexpress dot com has decent pricing and so does Mcmaster dot com.

I highly recomend fatmat. You can order it directly from www.fatmat.com for about a dollar a sqare foot, WAY cheaper than dynamat. Great product

You can also check out RAAMmat on ebay. Good stuff!!

I second Fatmat. I ordered the "100 dollar special" and did all 4 doors in 2 layers, the roof in 3 layers, and the tailgate in 3 layers, and I STILL have a ton left.

Great stuff, and great people that sell it. Very personable.

I used 1/4 inch thick urethane foam on my old X and it worked great. You can get it from most any hardware store and it's pretty cheap. Also, you can buy cans of truck bedliner to spray on the insides of doors where its hard to put the foam, just let it dry before you roll down the window
