hey, ok so i have a 98 Explorer XLT and i am having a hell of a time fitting a proper harness, soit will fit my kenwood KDC X994 ( car deck ) and i was wondering if anyone knows what harness i will need, oh and a side note how do i tell if it is a premium sound system,or "mach" sound system. I am not sure if the stock stereo was mixed up with a different one because the plugs that i am supposed to use for the kenwood deck doesn't fit.
if you could help me that would be great.

Need more info but, the premium radio has an rds button below the auto button. The Mach system has RDS and a rear mounted sub-woofer. Standard radio has no RDS button, instead has a clock button. Go here to identify which plugs you have:

If T-100 plugs use a Metra 70-1771 Ford T-100 Into Harness Adapter. If P-100 look up 97 Explorer JBL system adapters. If M-100 look up 97 Explorer Standard radio adapters.

These adapters have stripped wires on one end and a mating connector for the car harness on the other end.

i have the P100 system and i am familiar with the scosche harnesses, since the harness that they gave me at the store was made by scosche. thanks now i can put that damn deck in the car!
