Had my dad install my front shocks and regretfully the last owner let the old shock pretty much rot out. Well placing the other shock on he attempted to tighten the bushing and that rod literally snapped. So seeing that he said that rod was not a bolt but welded to the part he mad a make shift hold on it. Knowing I have replace it and secure the shocks correctly. Can anyone tell me what exactly I have to replace. Someone told me its the radius arm, someone else gave me another part.

Its a 93 Limited if anyone can tell me one what is it I need to replace and where I possibly could find it, would be much appreciated :burnout:

It would help greatly if you show a picture of what broke.

ok so the shock mount on the radius arm snapped off?

this happened on my Explorer before i bought it and when i had to take the front end apart to replace half the axle housing i saw that they just ground out the hole and stuck a bolt through it instead and it worked fine,

fortunately it was on the on the side that need the new housing and radius arm so the other radius arm had the mount on it and i didn't need to put the bolt back through it

Same thing happened to me - I posted a thread with some pictures here

I still haven't done anything about it - but I have decided that I won't be replacing the radius arms.

Let me know how you end up fixing it and what it will cost.

Hey, I know exactly what to do, I had the same thing a while back, and got help here. full circle..

What you do is go to a parts store and they`ll have a replacement shock mount that can be bolted onto something. Basically You will have to grind down then drill out the piece of the old shock mount that is left in the TTB arm then mount the new mount in it`s place. I suggest some threadlocker on the bolt when you mount it to the TTB, mine vibrated loose twice before I got wise..
The part itself is only a few dollars.

I talked about the problem in my mod thread in my sig as well, if ya care to take a peek.
