Before I put the interior back in my truck I am going to use dynomat. Bought a box of it cheap on eBay.

Question: When I do the door panels, should I take the factory plastic "vapor barrier" or what ever it is off first, or just cover over the top of it?

Thanks

Hey mahieber,

I think the dyno door kit comes with a layer for the inside of the door (sheet metal) and then put back the plastic weather guard and apply the other sheet to the doo panel.

But since I haven't done it yet, this is only from what I hear, not actually done.

So, Good luck

ps I would give dynomat a call for more info

I bought a bulk pack of dynomat that is just like 36 rectangles of the dynomat material itself.

I pulled the vapor barrier off, but I really don't think it would make much of a difference either way.

For the doors do the outer door skin first then take the vapor barrier and make a new one out of the dynomat and aply that to the door. The 2 layers will do wonders for making your truck quiet.

Trace the outline of the old vapor barrier onto you sheet of dynamat and cut it out and aplly it to the door

The sound deading should go INSIDE the door , meaning behind the speaker. You are trying to minimise the resonance inside the door shell.
Keep the vapor barrier too.

take a look at what i did. your suppose to throw away the vapor barrier. do the inside portion first than put a layer over it. trust me you will tell a difference. also that bulk pack wont last for ****. you may be able to do all your doors and thats it. it took me 3 boxes and a door kit to do mine. pics are in sig. make sure you clean the surface very good otherwise it wont stick. i used windex/ammonia cleaner. also invest in the dynmat roller it will help you out so much! 5.00 at best buy. the bulk pack is 36sq. ft. which is 9 pieces btw.
