My 2007 Explorer Limited with the 4.6L V8 needs its PCM to be replaced. I can't pass California's smog test to renew my registration because a check engine light is an automatic fail. I replaced the fuel rail sensor, but that didn't solve the problem. My local Ford dealer diagnosed the problem to the PCM, but Ford no longer has those parts. They quoted me $1500 for an aftermarket PCM which is ridiculous. In searching for one to purchase, the few places I have found that sell refurbished and pre-programmed OEM units all seem to have horrible reviews. Can anyone recommend a source for a reliable replacement, either aftermarket or refurbished?
