back-Spacing on stock tear-drop wheels???

Anyone know the spacing on the tear-drop wheels off a 1995 ford explorer? I need to know this so i can buy some american racing wheels. any other specs would help too. thanks alot. (sitting on goodyears at/d P235/75R15's.)

backspacing is probably 4.5".

However, with aftermarket rims it is usually better to get 4" or 3.75" to minimize rubbing on suspension components.

thanks for you help. another question maybe you can answer, what exactly do the numbers stand for? thanks

andrew

-the aftermarket rims would still be sitting on the goodyears...

Backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the inside bead of the wheel. The lower the number the more the wheels stick out.
