Having had a LPG conversion and losing my spare wheel space I mounted the spare wheel on the tailgate.
I cant use the rear opening window which is ok.
I sourced some extra strong gas struts for the extra weight of the wheel but found that the tailgate strut position is too close to the hinges and as the wheel is lower than the centre of the strut mounting it puts a huge amount of stress on the hinges .
Has anybody seen a rear hinged carrier, the type you swing to one side , thanks

I'm not looking to take any business away from Cory, but you can try here . My roommate is restoring/customizing a '69 Bronco and got a bumper mount model that will carry a "35 tire easily.

All ideas welcome , I am looking to fabricate something myself ,i just wasnt sure if there was a design available in the us .
Anything the size and weight of a carrier would cost a fortune to ship to uk.
Thanks for the ideas

I could take some pics and measurements of my roommate's if you'd like. The Bronco's on hold while we rebuild A) my honda head and B) my 4-Runner...so it's just sittin' around collecting dust (and some surface rust).

Eric

and before anyone says anything...altrhough the car is rice...it's just a daily driver (30 mpg sure beats 18) and has been since freshman year of college (7 yrs total...holy sh@t...I'm gettin' old))!!!

Details would be great , pictures ,drawings, anything hell send me the blue prints!
Your not getting old... your getting more experienced @ what is your choice
thanks michael
