Having had a LPG conversion and losing my spare wheel space I mounted the spare wheel on the tailgate.
I cant use the rear opening window which is ok.
I sourced some extra strong gas struts for the extra weight of the wheel but found that the tailgate strut position is too close to the hinges and as the wheel is lower than the centre of the strut mounting it puts a huge amount of stress on the hinges .
Has anybody seen a rear hinged carrier, the type you swing to one side , thanks
