I have a UK 96 explorer which has an lpg gas conversion, the tank is mounted where the spare wheel goes, I would like to fit a 'Gate' type bracket, similar to those I've seen on the Toyota Hilux Surf & Toyota Landcruiser.
I would ideally like to keep the stock bumper if possible, any help at all would be very welcome.

Welcome to the site.. Unfortunately there is no product for our vehicles that mounts a spare tire directly to the lift gate, or bumper. The lift gates and bumpers on vehicles that come with such mounts contain extra internal bracing to support the weight of the tire.

If your Vehicle is mainly used on-road then and easy option would be to get a 2" receiver hitch and then you could use the Hitch Gate product pictured below. Several members have bought them and indicate they work ok, but that they wouldn't recommend them for off-roading as they tend to hang down too much.

Thanks for the info DeRocha, that looks like just the thing, never seen them over here, I have sent them an email but I'll wager they don't ship to the UK! does anyone know if these can be modified or reversed so that it hinges on the right as my UK license plate is on the left and would save me having to move it? if I can't get one shipped I'll try to get the engineering shop next door to make one similar, thanks again
