I have a 94 X . I just put on a new head and gaskets recently . I also put in Accel U-groove plugs , Accel 9000 extreme 8mm wires , a set of headers , and a Flowmaster catback system . But I'm still getting heavy spark knock when I put a load on my engine . I run plus gas in it . I don't know what else to do or try , can anyone give me some suggestions ? Please it's driving me nuts !:fire:

hmm

i would be checking the intakes,,
sounds like an air leak,, maybe it didnt seal up right when you changed the head gasket.

retorque?

So do you suggest that I retorque the intakes ? Boatsrcool was saying the same thing , but I didn't think of it sence I just put everything back on . Right now I'll try just about anything . I was trying to avoid removeing the upper intake again (pain in the a*&%). But I'll give it a try . Anyone else have any suggestions ?:D

yes,,

try that and then if it still has the same simptoms take a can of WD-40 (Engine COLD)
wd_40 + hot manifold= bbbaadddddd lol
let the engine run at an idle and slowly spray the wd-40 around the intake gasket areas and listen and watch for changing engine speeds or boging.
if it does do one of the two go back to where it caused it and hit it again,, this will pin point the leak.
Good Luck!

Any thoughts on why they blew to start with? Retorque wouldnt hurt but you could have warped heads,or valve train problems ...did you run it for awhile and retorque the bolts? ...Hit me back with more info i might can help

can we get back to MY question ?

Your heads shouldn't need to be retorqued . The head bolts are "torque to yield" bolts . They stretch when torqued down so they act as a clamp , pulling the head to the block . when you take the heads off you have to replace the bolts because they are no good once the pressure is released off them . So by design - it's unlikely that the head bolts need to be retorqued.

OK enough about your heads ! Can we now get back to my question ?

talking about the intake bolts meat wagon.

the intake bolts is what needs to be checked or re tightened.
yes you need new head bolts when doing any headwork that involves removale of a head, some ppl re use them,, i would never do this and i dont recomend it.
