I was wondering when is it recommended to change the spark plugs on my 02 X Sport? The service schedule says not until 100,000 miles. Will they still come out at that mileage or should I change them sooner? :us:

i'd trust the factory, most modern day distributers supply so much voltage that it will spark even if you don't gap the spark plugs (not reccomended though) Not to mention the metals are tougher so not as much metal is disintegrated with each spark. So in other words no lol.

I'd check them before 100k if I were you. I pulled mine at 80k miles and the gaps were worn out to .075, which is well beyond spec.

i replaced mine at 60k and noticed a nice power increase

I changed mine when it hit 100k and the plugs looked totally worn out. Change it sooner. Get the Motorcraft double plats either from the dealer or Autozone. If you get it from the dealer, prepare to pay a whole lot of dough but it's still a lot cheaper than what I had to pay for my Acura ($13 a plug). Oh...also change the wires too.

replaced mine at 98K and they were shot/fryed - still came out with no problems though

edit: I probably should have done them at 60-70k

If you wait the 100k, atleast change the plug wires a few times. I think they get more worn than the plugs. The sports still use wires....right?
