Hey I just want to clarify that the autolite platinums are the right ones for the stock engine. I believe my friend said the double platinum's are better, so I just wanted to check.

You can't go wrong with Motorcraft OEM Platinum replacement. I found that AutoZone carries them now. That's all I use.

For Ford "wasted spark ignition system" as a minimum Single Platinum is recommended on half or the spark plugs, the other half require Dual Platinum. Originally Ford had two different type of plugs, to save money, but it was too confusing. That's why on most of the Ford cars, you will see as minimum Dual Platinum's all around.

But the technology advanced since 1980's, the best plugs that you can get in 2014 for Ford "wasted spark ignition system" are fine tip ones with platinum on ground strap - like NGK Laser Iridium.

In Australia the specified plug is the NGK Iridium, probably because the other ones aren't commonly imported.

I think length of service might be relevant here, I know it is to me.
