I need to replace the wires on my '97V8 and I called advance auto parts and they said that they had them for $35 and if the vehicle was produced after February '97 that they would be $54....
Why would that make a difference?

Thanks

I'm not certain of this, but I vaguely recall that somewhere around 97 or 98 (mid year even maybe) FORD started adding a metal heat shield to the plug boot end of the wire. Maybe someone else might have more info.

Happy Exploring

Mine has it, but you can actually remove the metal shield from existing ones and put them on new ones.

I'd like to know how to thread the new wires?

Wires/plug replacement is coming up for me and everytime I look at that mess under the hood, I get sick to my stomach.

I got that way too when I first looked at the ones on my '95. But once you take the time too look and get familar with it, it isn't soo bad.

Do them one at a time, starting with the longest. That way all you have to remember is the one your just took off. DO NOT take them all off at once. BAD idea.

Happy, and sane, Exploring

Definetly do it one at a time. I got ones from Advanced Auto, and the lengths matched nowhere near what stock were. But they all fit fine. Although the last one I did had lots of excess
