I have about 198K miles on my 04 ST. I can not remember what kind of spark plugs I put in the truck the last time it had new ones. I want to replace the ones I got. Any recommendations. I put alot of miles on this beast and it runs great.

ANy recommendations on plugs and any other tune-up suggestions...

ANy tips on taking out the old plugs..

Most people on here agree to stay with Motorcraft or Autolight.

Id stick with the motorcraft platinums, for the price and the kind of miles you put on its worth it. But that is just me. When ever I do a tune up I also clean the mass air flow sensor. Get the electronic spray at any part store. This is even more important if you run a K&N type filter. The oil from those reusable filters will dirty up the sensor.

I use Bosch Platinum IR Fusion Spark Plugs #4505 and I love them, I notice the engine idle vibration become less

Motorcraft or Autolite platinums.
Know that multiple electrode plugs do not get along well with late-model Ford ignition systems.

I changed my plugs today.. but I think I have a slight miss in the truck now. When it is sitting at idle the RPM gauge seems to bounce a little bit down. I made sure all the plugs were gapped at .054. I think I may have a loose new wire or a bad wire.

Any suggestions on testing this idea.

Reseated all the wire at the coil pack.
I just got me a check engine light..I am going to the Advance Auto to get it checked out..I think I have a bad wire...and that is what is causing the rough idle

The Code Scanner says ..I have a miss fire on the number two cyclinder...I am going to reseat the plug wire at the coil pack...Maybe that will work..If not then when the engine is cool I will reseat the cable on the plug..and of course it has to be on the difficult side of the engine..

Make sure and use a little dielectric grease on the boot. I couldn't get mine to properly seat either without a little dab of grease.

after finding out that I have a miss fire in number 2. I remembered I dropped the plug a few times when trying to get it in the head. I never re-gapped teh plug or checked to make sure the gap was correct..so the gap could be way off. I know the coil pack side plugs have grease. I am goign to pull the number two plug out tonight and check the gap. I will make sure they have electro-grease on them when I put the boots back on..

where can i purchase a code scanner for my X?

I use an Actron I got from my brother. I found one on Amazon just now for $69.95. It is model number CP9550.

I found the problem

re-gapped it and now it is running smooth...

Next time if I drop a plug I will be sure to double check it to make sure I did not jack up the gap...
