Hi Gang:
'04 Explorer 4.6 developed a very noticeable skip when "lugged". Brother inlaw has a little handheld diagnostic puter that coded 308. So I ordered the plug and coil online. Before removing plug I blew out hole with air. Got some water out doing this. I assume the water was the problem but going to replace parts anyway.
Now my question, what is recommendations on anti seize on plug threads and spark plug torque? And would some dielectric grease on coil where it sits on intake(?) be a good move? I assume water got there running down from hood/firewall area?
As always, thank you for your time and the great advice everyone contributes!:chug:

I believe the torque on these is something like 13lbs. The specified torque takes into account resistance.

Your plugs threads should have been "silver" in color, this means they are pre treated with an anti seize coating.

DO NOT add additional anti seize (many here will say to) you will decrease the resistance and over torque your plugs. With aluminum heads this can damage the threads.

If your plugs threads were black (you either bought regular copper plugs or some really crappy ones) then you'd add some anti sieze.

Use a torque wrench as well, do not "hand torque" these and think you are good.

It may have been water, but what typically happens is anti freeze leaking from the thermostat while under pressure when hot, runs along the intake and fills the plug holes.

Thanks for the reply Number 4.
The plug that came out has silver colored threads. Hopefully fluid isn't anti freeze leaking? I haven't noticed any drop in A/F levels?
Going off course here, the explorer is getting tired. It was the Hunnys car and she got a new car. I am running the explorer as a "beater". The car runs good(with exception to new skip). It has 180K on odometer and the body is very rusted out, thanks to the chemicals they use on the highways for ice and snow removal. If anything big and expensive happens to the explorer, it is done...
