No, but there is a loss of money and a waste of time installing either! There is no aftermarket "performance" plug that will give you any better performance than you will get from the stock OE (Origional Equiptment) Motorcraft replacement plugs.
True, True, True. There is however, considerable differences between the splitfire and some nasty 200k spark plugs that are eroded and the gap is no longer there (thats where splitfire gets their claims). Go with motorcraft OEM parts. Good luck!
I tried a set of splitfires in my explorer once with bad results. They caused to engine to ping like it was going out of style. Took that set back under their 30 day return policy and put in a set of Autolite copper plugs and haven't had a problem (with the plugs) since. I would recommend against the splitfires and suggest, as the others have, that you stick with a stock equivalent plug. Whether you use copper or platinum is up to you, I personally have preferred the copper plugs because that is what is listed as stock for the '92 engine.
