They are 5x7. I just put in the new Alpine R type 5x7 in my 98. At work I had all the major brands to choose from (Alpine, Infinity,MB Quart, Pioner,Kicker, Kenwood and a few more) and I liked these the best.

they holes are 5x7/6x8....but when i was mounting my infinitys, i had to drill at least 2 new holes on each speaker, they didnt line up at all.

6 1/2" fits too, and if you have the screens over them no one will know the difference.

I thought you needed adapters for 6.5" speakers?

Is there any truth to the notion that 6.5"s outperform 5"x7"/6"x8"s? If you were buying new speakers for the doors of your x would you go with 5"x7"/6"x8"s or 6.5"s.

i think the reason 6.5s may be better are becuase they come in component sets...for better imaging.

I put 2way 5x7s in all four doors, and it improved the sound a lot...then i added a set of tweets in the front, and it improved it even more.

the next time i buy new speakers im definately going with component sets.

my 6.5s went in just fine without an adapter. i got lucky in that enough holes matched so i could put them in without much trouble. i guess it differs with each brand of speaker.
