speakers wont work with new audio system

I am trying to get rid of my crappy "premium" factory system for my 96 XLT... got it out and have tried to install new system but cant get speakers to work...cant' find the wire connection for the amp...even bought conversion harness and still no go... have never had this hard of a time installing a radio... will even bypass the amp or whatever if have to..please help been 1 week without radio in car!!!!

New head unit and amp(s), or just new head unit? Either way, just run new speaker wire to speakers.

I think that the wire to the amp is blue I did it on mine just cut and splice the wire that goes to the amp or to the power antenna. It sounds alright on the low volumes but on really high voulumes it gets distorted.
