Speed sensor frustration.

If I've overlooked the answer to this somewhere, I apologize. But I've searched this forum and others online and just can't get the answer I need.

I am trying to locate the speed sensor to replace it, hoping that will fix the wildly crazy speedo needle. Have already replaced the sensor on top of the differential. Now have a sensor that is supposedly mounted on the driver's side of the transmission, but nothing there looks like the sensor that I bought. Did I get the wrong sensor from Auto Zone? Or is it located elsewhere?

The sensor on the top of the differential is magnetic while the one on the tail housing of the transmission has a gear. I think this model only has a sensor on the top of the differential.

93s do not have a sensor on the transmission. I would look for shorting wires now that you have replaced the rear end sensor. I could be that there is a wire jiggling as you drive that is driving your gauge nuts.

Check the inside of the steering column for damaged wiring around the tilt pivot area.
