Speedometer acting up

Just last week, my speedometer started acting up. It seems if I drive for awhile, the speedometer will all of a sudden just drop and stop working. I turned the engine off and when i started it again later in the day it worked fine again. It has done this a few times now. Anyone else ever have this problem?

It's a 97 sport 4.0 sohc with about 104k on the clock.

Yea Im goin through the same thing right now. When I find a cure Ill let you know. Hey Im not far from you in Salem.

Probably going to be the speed sensors. Try cleaning them. Sometimes that works.
