I have a 93 explorer and have changed out the front hubs to manual locking Warn hubs. I want to replace the bearings and need a spindle nut socket. Is it the 2 1/2 inch size? also I know there are certain torques for those nuts.

Another question is how do I change the filter for the A/C vents? does it even have one my vents blow out really musty smelling air. Should I just blow them out with a air compressor or is there a filter?

To take off the auto hubs, you need the hex shaped socket. To install the manual hubs, you need the round socket.
You could probably get by with a large crescent wrench for the autos, since you won't be putting them back on, and just buy the manual socket.

Checked my socket and it's 68.5mm X 80mm.
Says it works on 1985 and up F150's, 1991 - 1996 Explorers, and some other vehicles so it should work, but double check the socket size if you want to make sure.

Just checked mine also and it’s a PowerBuilt
It’s a 4 lug x 2 1/4 inner spindle nut socket
Part number 648474

Inner nut 35 lbs while spinning hub
back off 1/4 turn
then 13 inch lbs
outer nut 150 lbs

There is no A/C or cabin air filter on the 91-94 Explorer.

If you've got musty smelling air, clean out the A/C box;

You can also take apart the vent tubes under the dash and either stick a vacuum hose up there or wipe them with a damp rag.
