Has the issue resolved? Out of Curiosity... Was you PCM just resetting your fuel air mixture when it realized the MAF was replaced? Drawing any CEL codes?

By skipping when you shift into drive is it possible its the trans slipping? Low fluid?

Try setting the TPS to spec. You'd be surprised on how much the TPS reflects the tranny shifting.

how do you reset the TPS? its not the tranny slipping its more of a miss when taking off and when the tranny shifts into OD at low rpms under a load such as going up a hill. i cleaned the IAC and the engine purrs like a kitten at idle but you can have it in park and give gas all of a sudden and it spudders and misses before leveling out.

i forgot to mention its a 98 4.0 sohc sport explorer. it says there are no settings for the TPS.
