Has anyone ever spliced an oxygen sensor wire (on the computer side) ? Is there a correct way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Just find out the correct pin number and it's location on the PCM. Then see what color wire it is and follow it about 4-6" from the PCM. Then splice into it using a scotch-loc type connector: One of those that surrounds the O2 wire and you insert the new wire into it. Good luck!

what is the piont of splicing in a wire?

Well this is my situation. The idiot that installed my new engine cut the harness off the new engine and spliced my old one on there because they didn't match up. Now I'm getting a code 172 and I think it's because the splice isn't done right. Right now it's held on there by little blue connectors.

change your oil to... 172 is bank one and a possible symptom of it is fuel enriched oil....

I did. It still happens exactly as before.

Oh, you're talking about a butt splice. Simple, just splice them with any old connector. Maybe his splices aren't that good.
