So to resurrect an old post. Still having the smoking issue no one can figure out. I went to another dealer to get a new pcv valve for it and when i put it on the motor ran fine for 15 minutes then began squeaking and making a ton of not cool noises. Shut it down, had to pull a ton to get valve back out of cover and i couldn't take oil cap off because of a ton of back pressure. Finally got it off and put the old valve back on and it runs fine however still get a smoke after idling. Its a 2018 Sport and was told the TSB doesnt apply but it seems to be same issue because the PCV valve the dealer gave me was a replacement numbered part as Ford changed the pcv valve. The new one is green colored and I confirmed again with the dealer to make sure that its the correct one for my VIN Number and they did. Only response from them was they could bring it in and spend some time to diagnose it but it will cost a few hundred just to do that. Is it me or does this seem nuts.

The green fitting you are referring to isnt a PCV valve, its simply an inlet elbow. It goes on the front valve cover. It replaced a black one. The only difference is, the hole is smaller on the green one. The rear valve cover fitting is the PCV valve and it should be brown.

Ok I continue to learn. So only question I have is when I went to the dealer n got the new PCV valve the one they gave me was green ?

Ok...how is this hard to understand? I explained it to you. But I'll do it again..that green one ISN'T a PCV valve. If you pull it off, it's just a plastic piece with a hole in. It is the inlet for air into the engine. It replaced the black one on the front valve cover. All Ford did was make the orifice smaller. If you look at the difference between the two, the hole is just smaller in the green one. The ACTUAL PCV valve is on the rear valve cover and will be brown. That has an actual check valve in it like all PCV valve should. If you have a green one on the rear it's wrong, it should ONLY be on the front. Pull it off and just look through it, if you can see all the way through it, it isn't a PCV, its just a fitting.

the black one is the original one and the green one is the Ford "fix" for smoking. See how the base is a hexagonal shape? These were fittings found on the front valve cover. The fitting on the rear should be brown, which is the PCV and will have a square shaped base. 20210218_224529.jpg

Yes I understand. I was just saying that I was confused about the color differences n that the green fitting was confusing me. I thank you gor the info. I ve hit the age where I’m falling behind technology. It used to be just a lot easier.

Good evening members, I’m hoping you can help. I’ve recently acquired a 2018 Sport with 65k miles. Recently it started puffing out white smoke on initial start up. Seemed like a PCV issue so I installed a catch can and new valve. After a few errands yesterday and today which was roughly 20 miles of driving each, the smoking is gone but the catch can was about 1/3 full of oil at the end of each day. Any thoughts why it’s pulling so much oil through the PCV?

I wish I had an answer for you. My Sport 17 symptoms sounds much like yours. It all started to happen after a water pump, timing chain/guides, and cam phasers replacement. I'm running with a UPR dual valve catch can and it does fill up after about 20 miles of driving - roughly 6-7 oz. I've changed the PCV, had the PCM updated, changed out the oil, passed the compression test, etc. No clue either on why it's pulling that much.

Ford tells me to revert back to full stock, and UPR tells me there's likely an engine problem. Going no where on this matter.
