sport trac valve cover gasket replacement intake removal?

does anyone know if a 2001 sport trac 4.0L needs to have the intake removed in order to replace the valve cover gasket? I'm trying to get a quote from some mechanics...some say I need it done; some say I don't...It would double the labor costs if the intake needs to be removed. I appreciate the help. Thanks

No, you do not have to remove the intake manifold to change the valve cover gaskets.(I just did mine the other day) But, I would recommend changing the intake manifold gaskets while in there anyway. No way it would double the labor cost to change the intake manifold gaskets as well. Everything is already out of the way. Easy access. Just a few bolts to remove.
