Springs

Are the front springs for the 4x4 explorer the same as the 2x4 explorer? I was wondering if the 2x4 ranger drop coils would fit on the 91-94 4x4 explorer. I know the numbers on the 2x4 explorer springs and 2x4 ranger springs match up but do the 2x4 and 4x4 explorers match?

no the 4x4 springs are a higher rate to handle the extra weight of all the equipment associated w/ 4x4 and the ranger 4x2 is a different rate than the X 4x2 cause the X is heavier. oh and the last thing you want to do is drop a first gen 4x4.....i dont think it will work. your tires will do this / \ and there is no correction for it....the beams will hit the frame quite often....the best way to lower a first gen is to get dropped I beams....which will only work for a 4x2.

Another thing, your front differentials/transfer case will hit your oil pan. I already looked into it.
