LOL
So I thought that the reman alternator I put on in April was starting to make some bearing noise over the weekend, and since it wasn't too loud i put it off, deciding to fix it next weekend. Last night i was on my way home from work, and all of a sudden there was a rattle, and the sounnd of a belt slipping bad. I turned around and went to the parts store where I bought the alternator ready to flip....LOL I got the alternator off, and spun nit by hand. It was making some bearing noise, so we waranteed it out and put the new one back on in the parking lot. I fire up the truck.... and the noise is still there.
I go to remove the belt from under the truck again, and I notice something odd. The lower idler pulley was completely missing its bearing.... ALL OF IT. The belt was still on it though LOL
So, after screwing around trying to find the proper part, it now has a new Dayco pulley on it. The aprt that failed was at about 172K on my stock 5.0.
Just had an interesting night... and I realizes that the grooved idler pully is kind of hard to find.
