When the temp drops, every time I go over a speed bump or other large bump my suspension mainly in the front but both front and rear squeaks/creaks and it sounds like someones bedroom!!!:D I have a 1996 Explorer Limited so i know it is 11 yrs old, but what could be making this noise only in the cold. When it is warm out, there are no suspension sounds going over bumps, but when the temp drops like during winter mornings it so loud you can hear me across the parking lot. I can not track down exactly where it is coming from. thanks for the help

I get the same thing. I've had my X for 6 months now and I was told it's kind of "common" and not much to worry about. That is if it's the same Squeak!

Thanks for the reply. Anyone else have the same creaking sound problem in cold tempatures? I am not really worried about it, i just can't stand hearing it and was wondering if there is something that I could do about it. thanks

re

yea mine does the same thing. i got under there, had a buddy push the truck up and down. sounds like it comes from everywhere. 70k later, still no mechanical problems...just the squeak haha

I just started the bedroom mattress squeak on my left front area yesterday. Anyone diagnosis this sound before? I do have some rust under there and I wonder if the cold and all the water I drove through had something to do with it. I have a 98 5.0 AWD Mountie.

Ya, it was the sway bar busing. Get some silicone grease and spray the bushing liberally. Also just in case get the bushing on the lower control arms too. I am now squek free for 1 year. When it does come back just spray it again.
Hope this helps.

My God, I fixed it. This squeak was just like I described above..you know that old box spring bed sound when you were playing hookie with Susie May Johnson. I got underneath the car, and sprayed silicon into the sway bar busing and lower control arm bushing and everywhere else in front suspension. I let is sit. Then, I had the wife turn the steering wheel back and forth. The squeak was loud. After about 3 minutes the squeak went away. I had driven 400 miles last night in Texas which has had alot of ice this week and I believe some road sand made its way into a suspension area, which the silicon loosened and released. All is well. Thanks.

I will try the silicon spray on all the bushings on my front suspension to see if it works for me too. Do you guys some how get under the bushing with the spray or do you literally just spray the outside of it only?

spray on the outside and it will work its way in.
