Hello,

I have a five month old 2002 Explorer Sport with 6,800 miles. For the last two weeks I have heard the brakes squeaking regardless of the weather or time of day.
Has there been issues with the quality of brake pads or rotors for uses on the sport, or is this normal with low miles? Also, I do not have the towing package (may add better brake pads or rotors).

Thanks

take it back to the dealer.... something isnt right..... the newer factory OEM parts are normally very high quality parts

Hi, I work for a Ford dealer in Arlington, Texas. Your squeel is most likely normal (however without hearing it I really cant tell). Lots of times depending on your driving habits and weather conditions it is easy for you rotors to become glazed sevely and cause a squeel intermittently while breaking. However we have customers come in all the time, you are under warranty and there is no charge for us to check it out. So if I were you I would take it to your nearest dealer, but don't be surprised if they say it is normal. Most likely they will use a die grinder to knock of the glaze and scuff up your pads to correct your concern, but it will return later on. Brake lightly it helps prevent this concern.:D
