I recently developed a squeal that only occurs in reverse. i have a 92 sport with a 5spd manual transmission. I cannot pinpoint the exact location of this squeal, it is either from the driveshaft, the rear of the car, or a belt.
Sorry I cannot be more specific.

I recently had the lower intake manifold off, and got the belt dirty so it now squeals upon acceleration, however this problem was present before i did this.

I first suspected my squeaky suspension (i have basically no bushings left in my leafs) but i ruled that out because it pulses (like a belt) and my suspension would not do that.

any ideas?

hows your tensioner and ideler pullys / bearings ;)

if the belt is in question then go buy another one if it looks worn ( could not hurt) or get some belt quiet ( spray can) and see if that works before you go buy another belt .

does it only do it when in gear and moveing or in gear while sitting still?

If the problem is part of the belt system, it should do it in fwd and rev at the same RPMs. If it doesn't, I'd look to the drive train.
