Hi,

I have a 99 Explorer that squeeks. It's like a metal on Metal noise from under the car.

It's not the engine and it's not the brakes because it happens when not braking. Funny thing is that it seems to happen when the air temp is cold and before I get into stop start traffic.

Can anyone help. I have a mate (with an Explorer) here who has the same problem and ended up spending mega dollars for no change. They put new brakes, machined the discs, then new discs, then in the end they said it was a coupling near the diff. Sounded to me like they had no idea.

Before I take it to get looked at can anyone help analyse the problem or provide any clues?

Cheers

Tambo

You may want to make sure the Brake Caliper hasn't come loose. That's a common problem.

Good idea will do.
