Stalling when shifts from P to R or D

Hi, new here but got lots of info from every one on replacing my A4LD transmission. I have the job done but now I am getting hard shifts and stalling when shifting from P to R or D. What could be the problem?

Well the problem sounds like it is coming from your transmission and not your engine. I do not know what, but there appears to be a serious problem with your transmission, causing it to seize and thus stalling your engine.

Does the transmission have a lot of miles on it?
