I have a 2004 with 52,000 miles on it, and when you start it up and watch the rpm it drops very low, and almost cuts off, then will catch itself, and do it again. If you lighly press the gas pedal it does the same thing. any ideas?

Thanks

what motor? any CEL? check for vacuum leaks maybe? how does it run at other times?
with an '04 v8 (i think the v6s also had it but i'm not 100%) you have something called 'fly-by-wire', which means RPM's are controlled with a motor on the throttle plate, and a TPS sensor. . not much to it but when it fails you have to replace the whole thing. . .
