So, my late 1998 Ex that I have been running for just 4 weeks wouldn't start today - turn the key. all I could hear was a relay behind the dash.

Want to start checking stuff, but cannot see the starter relay.
Haynes says it's between the battery and fuse box, but as these are on opposite sides of the engine bay in UK spec, it doesn't help much! The LPG system makes it harder to find things too.

I suspect that the very "damp" weather may have something to do with it, When I tried to start my other car, a Fiat Stilo JTD, the same thing happened - 6 tries, and nothing. On the seventh it turned over and started, and is OK now.
Just a coincidence?

I have a pic of power distribution box (fuse box in engine bay) which list the relay #6 as the starter but i have a pdf of an american handbook that says its relay #5.

Thanks for the info:thumbsup: - in the Haynes manual it says only 2000 on have the relay in the engine bay fuse box, so I was looking for an external relay bolted to something.

I'll go and check now, but it says it my handbook that relay 5 is PCM system, and Relay 6 is Fuel Pump, so I think USA power distribution box is different

Yep, just checked, and my starter relay does not seem to be in the power distribution box.

Still don't know where the starter relay is, but the problem was just a loose connection to the starter solenoid .
