sounds like the started might not get be gettin enough power, have you cleaned the cables and battery terminals yet?
if not try that, it can do wonders.

sounds like the solinoid in the starter i had a similar problem the starter would engauge but the solinoid wouldntengauge so i replaced the starter. starter was new so i just used the warrentey

yes i have wire brushed every thing from top to bottom

had the problem with original starter then went and purchased a new one and still only clicking not engaging

What about the negative battery cable end (ground)
where it connects to the engine block? That is a trouble-
prone spot for Explorers.

i havent checked that . but i will first thing tomorrow morning. would that actually cause it not to turn over? ive only been concentrating on the possitive side. and how can i check the negitive cable to make sure it is good?

geab a like 4 gauge peice of wire and have someone be brave and where the factory ground for it is at take the wire from that to the frame, make sure the frame is clean

ok heres the deal after a battery, starter(in and out of the truck 4 times),starter relay, a second starter relay(first one post snapped off) an oem possitive battery cable. turned out to be a bad ground cable. i thank you all for the help... four days down but all is good now. that is why i like this site so much. the people all help and ask nothin in return but maybe advise down the road. thanx again..
