Recently, my 99 Sport has had some trouble starting. IT turns over for a few seconds and then starts. It does not start as quick as it used to. I noticed this recently on a trip to Fl. Could it be due to the sudden change in temps or someting? BTW, it has 61,x.. miles on it. I have an extended warranty on it, but I do not want to take it to the dealer if all it needs is a tune up or something. Any ideas? Thanks.

Try turning it to "on" and let the fuel pump pressurize the system. Then try starting it. If it starts right up, then you probably need to change the fuel filter or clean the injectors.

Or it could be that your battery cables or battery need replacing.

I have tried to trun to on first and then start and the problem still occurs. Thanks for the ideas though. Any others?

Well about 60k is the time you should first replace your spark plugs and plug wires. I use Motorcraft replacements, no need for expensive "high performance" ignition components. It could be your wires or plugs starting to go. I'd also replace your battery cables.

Even if these aren't the problem, they should be replaced anyway as part of normal maintenance.

O2 sensors can cause all sorts of problems. I would take a look at their function.

Good luck....
