Starts but anti theft light remains on

I own a 92 XLT and this problem just started tonight. Jumped in it started it up and the anti theft light stayed on. I shut it off tried it again same result. I drove it around the block brought it back home shut it off started it right up and drove it even further light remains on nothing seems to be out of order just worried about that light being on. Any suggestions what the problem could be and should I be worried about driving it any place. Ive read horror stories about it not starting and even dealt with that in the past. I'm thinking maybe the anti theft system just died which if that's the case Good maybe I wont have the intermit problem with the damn thing not starting when its cold or raining. But I would like some others view point on this.

Great question. I wish I were a guru on the anti-theft stuff. I guess you have 2 choices... learn the schematics and diagnose it, or put a patch of electrical tape over the light. Both are good choices in my mind.
