Hi, I need some help with my 1998 Ford Explorer Sport.
Upon start-up, the airbag light comes on and gives a code of 1 & 2 blinks 5 times equal to 15 blinks - 16 counting the first and then stays on. Can someone give me some idea of what this code might mean? I have read the problem may be leaked to a seat belt sensor located under the driver seat or a short in the clock spring. If you have information about the code and know how to fix this problem, I would very much appreciate your input.
Thanks.

This forum is awesome! Just got my truck back from the detailers, the AB light was flashing. I read through some of these threads and got it resolved. Apparently it was the connector at the base of the passenger seat.

Again, thanks to all that share information here. It's a great resource for answers!

concerning the original posters question, what is the correct way to read the blinks. His blinked 1 then 2 a number of times. Is that a 12 code or is the code the total number of blinks?

You would have a code 12. It will repeat the code five times, then illuminate steady.

I would suspect that when working on your car at the dealership, they de-powered the airbags for safety, and the tech probably forgot to reinstall the fuse. I'd start there.

Airbag Code 15 / 16

I have a 2001 Explorer showing airbag code 16 sometimes shows 15.
Whats the problem ?
