My daughters 2013 base lost power steering today. My scan tool shows C1B00:86-28 steering angle sensor. No other codes. Turn signals not working and no terrain management functions. I'm hoping it's just the steering sensor and not the rack. Is there any way to know for sure?

Many earlier 5th gen Explorers had issues and had to replace the steering rack. I'm not a mechanic and don't know how one would test this to pinpoint the problem. From what I've read it can affect the Terrain Maiangement System but I'm not sure about the turn signals.
Good luck and please keep us updated.

I called local Ford dealer and they advised the rack was just placed a few months ago(we've only had it a month), so hopefully good news and hoping the new steering angle sensor is the culprit, new SAS will be here next week.

So I went to replace the steering angle sensor but when I removed the clockspring, there wasn't a steering sensor installed. I installed the new one and still no power steering and still getting steering angle sensor fault code on my Launch scan tool. The SAS reset calibration was successful. It seems the steering sensor is integrated into the clockspring, does this seem correct?

Its a Christmas Miracle. :) Maybe Santa? LOL

Replaced clockspring and still no power steering. Is it possible it just needs to be reprogrammed? I did the SAS calibration on my scan tool. I did confirm the new rack they recently installed is Motorcraft part. Guess it's gonna have to go to Ford to figure out.

Perhaps the issue is with the EPAS (Electric Power Assisted System) system.

I am having the same problem as we speak. Did you take it to the ford dealership? Was your problem resolved?
What was the solution?
