Installed 3 inch body lift and am getting a small binding in steering. Does antone know how to correct this? Also just ordered a steering dampner, what is involved in putting this on?

Steering dampener won't help. Did your body lift come with the steering shaft link?

I take it you put the steering extension in that probably came with the lift? What you can do is goto the junk yard and look for a 91-92? Explorer that has a upper u-joint on the slip shaft instead of a rag joint like yours has. Older X's had 1 rag, 1 u-joint. Newer ones have 2 rags. U-joint should smooth it out.

hey i got this same problem! I'm stumped on what to do as well. I know the extension is in, and I got a '92 X...

I didn't measure (I didn't install it) but that is the pic of it. The extension is the bolt to the right (shinier/ bigger one.)

Thanks for all the info, and I did the extension. I took the brace holding the steering column off right under the dash. There is hard plastic right where the bolt holes are. I grinded the plastic down till it was flush with the aluminum. This raised the steering column up about 1/8 of a inch. It straitened out my shaft just enough to fix the bind.

The steering dampner is another problem. The end of the shock where the nut goes on is touching my stablizer bar. It is not bad I will fix it later. I could locktight the nut on and grind off the rest of the shock bolt. Just as long as I don't melt the rubber bushing on the shock from the heat.

Sorry, I type to fast and can't spell worth s*#@
