I have a 92’ Ex with a 137k on it, which has way too much slop in the steering. I need tighter steering basically for one reason: I have a 23’ trailer I want to pull and all that slop makes it difficult to keep in the right lane lol. I’m wondering, (because I heard a rumor), if there is a kit to rebuild the gear so it functions like, (or almost like), a new one. I’ve already tried the “tighten the mesh load screw” trick and it really didn’t help much in this case, it begins to bind with a 10 degree turn of slop still left there. Also, all the front end parts seem to be tight,, looked at the pitman arm and that’s what doesn’t move during the slop part of the turn. I’d rather rebuild it , if there is a kit , than to buy a new/rebuild or junkyarder.
So if there a steering gear guru out there in Ex land, please drop a note in this post!
Thanks
Mike
