Hello to everyone

I joined this group in Dec. 09 when bought a 96 explorer sport

there is a wealth of information here and it is appreciated, and now I need to ask a question

just changed steering rack but now the steering wheel is 180 degrees out the

state inspection station mechanic thinks the rack is bad (its a rebuild)

took forever to get all the air out

the state inspection mechanic is an idiot, it's not bad. if you're steering wheel is exactly upside-down, probably something got flipped over on the steering column where it connects to the box. i don't know a whole lot about the second gens, but i had that problem on my bronco when i swapped steering boxes. it has a slip joint in the steering shaft just before the box, when i pulled out the old box, the slip joint came out, when i put it back in i did it the wrong way and the wheel came up upside down. easy fix.

the slip joint i'm referring to looks like a round shaft with flat top and bottom.. or a square shaft with round sides... depending how you want to think about it.

thanks a lot , I'll take a look tomorrow, it looked like it could only go in one way
