My 94 explorer has some kind of steering problem , I get up to around 45 mph and it is hard to keep it going straight on the road it wonders back and fourth like in a strong wind. and my steering wheel isnt straight on the column. could this be an alignment issue or something else???

I would look at the alignment first. By your description, it sounds like you have excessive toe-out. You can do a rough check by sighting down the tire sidewalls, looking from the front. You can also run a string from front to back. The tire sidewalls should be nearly straight with each other, with a very slight toe-in (1/8") if it is 2WD.

If the toe setting looks OK, then it could be worn steering or suspension parts.
