2005 Explorer Sport Trac
Hey Folks,
2nd post other the inthe New Member area. I just bought an 05 ST XLS 2wd and the dealer that had it just put brand new tires on it. It has 72K miles. I want to replace the shocks as it seem to rida a little soft and has some body roll while turning. Also want to prevent tire wear. Which shocks? Monroe, Gabriel, etc. Any preferences?
thanks,

Also looking for a complete center console.

Any will be a huge improvement. A lot of people like the Monroes.

Welcome to the forum!

if you want to get the best bang for your buck in terms of road manners, ive been told that monroe sensatracs are the way to go. im up on the trail alot of the time, and i run the rancho RS5000's. great shocks for the money.

monroes or the napa counter parts. they are one and the same.

also rancho 5K and 9K series are popular. and a few have pro comps

Thanks guys. I've got Pro Comp Hyrdos on my Jeep but that's a different story. I'm looking for on road manners. I guess I'll look into the sensatracs.

monroe sensa tracs are great but check napa brand instead of black they are blue and the same as the monroe products

NAPA's blue "Response" shocks are identical to the "Monro-Matic Plus" entry level economy shock.
Compare specs, they are NOT the same as SensaTrac's, but offer stock "ride quality". LOL

When I compared Sensa Tracs and NAPA's for my daughter's Jeep they were identical.

Well, the "Heep" is a completely different animal, ANY shock will do. ;)

The sensa tracs are on the softer side. However, I am happy with them on my truck. I only run them in the front. I have Monroe Max-Airs in the rear for towing. I will be switching to long travel Bilsteins to work with my SAS/SOA though. I have been happy with the Monroes though and I used to hustle my truck on backroads as a younger, dumber kid and they made a great improvement over the OEMs as far as body roll and the rebound time was much better. Rougher and pitted roads didn't unsettle the truck in turns.

Just installed the sensa tracs. Much better ride. I'm all on road in the ST. My 93 YJ is for the dirty stuff. Thanks for all the input. I'll check back here in a few hundred miles.

Oh thems fightin' werds...I love my "HEEP" and my "HEEP loves me!:D

Fellow jeep owner here too, but my trac is my go to! More room and a little more power!

Pffft, my Trac is better on gas than the four-banger Jeep is.
JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket

I just replaced my front and rear shocks with KYB Monomax. Besides loving the red color when you look at the trcuk from behind, I love the ride and comfort. Bought my 01Trac about 3 years ago used and just got around to changing them, what a difference. Had stock shocks for 156K miles.

OP has a 2wd, so assuming that going off-road is not part of the agenda, Sensa Tracs will be perfectly fine. That's what I put on my old '05 4x4 Trac at 12k miles and they were a big improvement over stock and I even off-roaded that one.

You guys are correct on all accounts. 2wd. The sensa tracs are a big impovement.
