Hey All..I have been trying for a couyple days to remove the stock subwoofer in my X. I took the panel off and removed the screws which seemingly held the sebowwfer in place. I disconnected the speaker cable and now the sub will not come out, it simply spins like a steering wheel. How do I get it out?? Thanks :bounce:

ur probably gunna want to just replace the entire box/sub combo u can get them cheap on ebay..some for like 1 dollar lol

Oh yeah... you're screwed

And I mean that literally. There's a screw holding in the stock sub (so I'm told by drmoore71). I think he broke the screw or the brace while trying to get it out.
For a replacement, just get the JL 8w0 or JL 8w1. It will bolt right in, and will sound tremendously better.

Thanks for the input. I have already ordered the replacement 8" sub so it should work just dandy. The screw is driving me crazy..do you think it would be alright to just break it off? Thanks!

good luck breaking it, it is a bolt, not a screw. To remove it you will need to remove the whole sub enclosure.

uhm... I took my stock woofer out of its holder without breaking anything... Atleast I dont remember breaking anything :) It wasn't that difficult to get out.

Only 98+ have the bolt in the back of the sub.

why, antitheft? LoL "Yo I just stole this bad ass ford 8" yo!"

Same Question...

This is actually the question that I was searching for. I bought a 2000 Eddie Bauer yesterday. It has the Audiophile system in it (I just know it's the best factory system that you can get). However, I test drove two different X's, and I noticed that in the one I ended up buying that no sound what so ever came from the sub. That leaves me thinking that it's not blown, but that there is possibly a wire lose somewhere? If anyone knows or has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. I tried to take the sub out yesterday, but as everyone said, once I unscrewed it, the sub just spinned around. If I need to take out the whole enclosure, that's fine, but please tell me how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to remove the whole interior panel. This requires unbolting the seatbelt and pulling up the carpet slightly in the cargo area. There are then about 8 bolts around the perimeter of the enclosure. When I put mine back together, I put an extra piece of rubber behind the sub to stop the rattle and left the bolt out so it will be easier to remove in the future.
