Stop the dinging! D:

does anyone know how to stop the dinging on a 2nd gen merc? at tailgates i'd really like to just open up the doors and play music but i cant cause the dorrs start dinging so i have to shut the doors and roll down the windows, but then i have no place to sit.

yes, i know, ***** ***** ***** lol... but my subs just dont sound good with the doors shut D:

The the chimmer is in the GEM box. You'll have to pull the stereo and bezel to get at it. It's the black box in the upper left in the dash with a bunch of wires going to it. Remove it and pop the top off. You'll see the round plastic "speaker" with a hole in it. I tried to take it off but it's soldered to the board good and didn't want to risk ruining the whole circuit board. I ended up squirting a bunch of super glue into the hole to shut it up. I thought it was a good idea until I realized superglue is flammable and that it might get really hot on the board. But, It's been a year now and I've had my doors open with the stereo rocking at the beach for 6 hours and no problems. It is really faint now, almost have to purposefully be listening for it to hear it. I HAD to do this mod to keep my sanity. Door chimmers drive me bonkers!

lol thanks! and i know i cant stand stand it. my personal favorite is when i put the key in with the door open... because in the 1 second i did it i totally forgot/did realize i put my key in.
