when keys are out and lights are on, will not make the dinging sound..help please!

ok when i turn the trac off and take the keys out and the lights are still on, it doenst ding. this has caused a dead battery already. what could be the problem, is it something that can easily be fixed?
also, when i open the drivers door, the overhead lights will not come on. when i open any other door but the drivers, they work fine...
very frustrated with this...any help would be amazing!! thanks =)

check the door switch, the little pushbtton switch in the door jamb,maybe spray some WD-40 in there and push it "in and out" for a while.
or you may need to change it.
Well that's where it's on the Ranger, sport trac may be different.

will check later and post if it's else where. Could also be the wiring to the switch.


EDIT:
Ok, I looked at the door and there's no visible switches in the door or door jamb. So the switch must be in the latch mechanism...good luck!
