Stranded and lost the keys

Hello people I have a 2007 exploder 4.0 Eddie Bauer I have been fixing up for a year now 2 weeks ago I finally finished one whole year of late night and no sleep except for at work lol I get home n the truck and no keys looked everywhere is there anyway I could just buy the cylinder and 2 keys from parts geek or do I gotta spend 500 and have a locksmith do it please help I just wanna hear it run

Cool thank u where did u get your blank key for the locksmith to program so I'm guessing it's impossible to just buy a new cylinder and 2 keys without having the original to program it

Locksmith had key blanks - had taken my info over the phone. I'd managed to have my only key in the ignition, turned to 'ON" when the door closed and locked me out. He had the chip key blanks and portable equipment to cut and program them. It is possible to run keys over and get them stuck in your tire grooves, maybe that's where yours went. I would guess your 07 still has a PATS anti-theft system so no, can't just change the keys and lock cylinder.

Thank u so much for the info I'm gonna call that locksmith tomorrow and hopefully I can get it done as cheap as u did. I really didn't think I could just change out the cylinder but figured I'd ask thank you il post what happened with the locksmith when I see him thanks again

with NO keys ..ZERO... you can expect more like $200 as the locksmith will need to program the pats system to accept his new keys. BTW..get 3 because YOU MUST HAVE 2 "MASTER" KEYS before YOU can add more...yourself. Once you have 2 programmed master keys...you can add as many as you like yourself...in the driveway in 10 minutes

This is very good advice. I received two keys when I bought my 2010 Mountaineer. The first thing I did was buy three key blanks and five fobs to clone them. I used a local hardware store to cut the keys. Funny thing is the big box stores would not cut the keys. This way I have plenty of extra keys to give to family members and have a spare or two extra. I replaced the fobs I had with new ones as they were fairly beat up. Also, I don't use the original keys incase I ever need to make more copies in the future. Using a copy of a copy might induce error and make the key not work smoothly. One last thing I will mention is that when programming a new fob you have to program them all in the same session. Even ones that were previously programmed. The security coding is changed every time a programming session is done and this makes all previously coded fobs unusable. I was frustrated as heck until I figured out this was happening. Ford's instructions aren't clear on this either.
