Strange electrical problem occuring??

Ok...this has happened three times now....'93 4x4, 5 speed. I get in the truck, drive somewhere. Shut it off, get back and and everything is dead when I turn the key. Then I turn it off, turn it back on, press the two 4x4 buttons that are lit, and turn the key off and on and it starts right up???

What the HECK IS WRONG??? Could it just be a weak battery??? A switch of some sort?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Start by replacing the battery cables if you haven't in a while. They'll look good on the outside, but they tend to rot on the inside.
