When I first start out with my 96 Explorer I get plenty of heat from defrost but after 5 or 10 minutes heat fades and air is cool or neutral. Radiator level is fine, replaced thermostat and no detectable coolant leaks. A mechanic at the company I worked suggested there might be a "leak in the vacuum that controls opening 'flap'" allowing heat (or shutting it off) ?????????
